Our LOVEwork is made with hand-hewn oak log timbers reclaimed from the RJ Reynolds Homestead area in Patrick County, Virginia. It is believed that the trees were growing in the late 16th century and harvested in the early 17th century. The timber buildings were originally constructed in 1840's and reclaimed in 2010. Located on the bank of Laurel Creek, the LOVE – combined with a serene waterfall view – creates the perfect backdrop for a photo (or a glass of wine!) on the deck of this historic hotel and restaurant. Each letter of our LOVE sign celebrates the attractions and culture of each area served by Kids Central, Inc. The “L” features the City of Norton, highlighting outdoor hiking trails, the infamous Woodbooger and Central Drive-In (opened in 1952). The “V” is a nod to Dickenson County’s country music roots and must-see outdoor recreation. The LOVEwork was created using old farm equipment to represent our small, rural community. We partnered with New River Community College art instructor, Tammy Parks, and Pulaski High school welding instructor, Bobby Petty, and his students to create this one of a kind project.
