High Country Lights, Galax

For over 20 years, High Country Lights in Galax has been a must-visit holiday tradition. This spectacular musical light show features a quarter-million lights choreographed to classic Christmas tunes. Open nightly through January 1, 2025, this free family-friendly event is a crowd favorite.

Food City Speedway in Lights, Bristol Motor Speedway

The Speedway in Lights at Bristol Motor Speedway is Southwest Virginia’s largest holiday attraction, drawing visitors from several states. Now in its 28th year, this stunning display features three million lights and dozens of animated scenes.

New this year is Santa’s Safari, featuring 40 large LED displays, along with the Turbo Tube Slide and the SnowMazing Challenge in Christmas Village. One of the event’s highlights is the chance to drive your car around the legendary half-mile oval track.

Speedway in Lights is open nightly at 6 p.m. through January 4, 2025. Proceeds benefit the Bristol chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities, supporting dozens of organizations across Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.

Festival of Trees at Southwest Virginia Museum

Celebrating its 29th year, this beloved tradition features beautifully decorated trees, mantels, banisters, and doorways inside the museum.
