The Floyd Country Store is renowned as a place to experience authentic Appalachian music, and is home to a group of musicians, flatfoot dancers, and cloggers who are carrying on the tradition of their families who’d pass the time playing music and dancing together. Everywhere they could these folks would gather with their friends and families from their front porch to the neighbor’s kitchen. In the 1980’s folks in Floyd took to coming out to the General Store and began the Friday Night Jamboree tradition that continues today.
The Floyd Country Store is a real country store that is over 100 years old. You can’t miss the barrels of old-fashioned candy at the front of the store. If you explore further you can find everything from hand-dipped ice cream to hard-wearing bib overalls, and a great collection of hard-to-find old-time and bluegrass CDs and music accessories. Our menu features good, homemade country food. The ice cream counter stays busy serving up shakes, sundaes and cones. All of our weekend events bring people from near and far to dance, listen, enjoy and play gospel, old-time, and bluegrass music. The store can host private events and tour groups, please call for details and availability.
