Daniel Boone Loop Trail

Located in the westernmost part of Virginia, the Daniel Boone Loop contains sites that have a strong historical connection to the early frontier. While this isn’t the exact path that Daniel Boone followed many centuries ago, it will take you to the Wilderness Road entrance to Cumberland Gap National Park, where Boone and his followers pioneered their way into Kentucky. While traveling this loop you will see an abundance of wildlife and woodlands but also will follow long stretches of scenic road and enjoy the rich history of Appalachia. This loop will also take you through the wildly beautiful 850-acre Natural Tunnel State Park that offers camping, swimming, picnicking, and seven hiking trails, including the self-guided Arboretum Trail and the historical Lover’s Leap trail.
