Experience wild and scenic beauty by walking a part of the Virginia Birding & Wildlife Trail network. Easy access to nature trail traversing forest and open fields. Once stepping into the forest, white-tailed deer start appearing almost everywhere – at every turn white-tailed deer and their fawns are grazing around the corner.
This tranquil setting is perfect for a variety of eastern woodland birds such as mourning dove, ruby-throated hummingbird, downy, red-bellied and pileated woodpeckers, eastern wood-pewee, blue jay, Carolina chickadee, tufted titmouse, white-breasted nuthatch, blue-gray gnatcatcher, eastern bluebird, cedar waxwing, red-eyed vireo, ovenbird, indigo bunting, eastern towhee and chipping sparrow. American goldfinch can be seen feeding on the massive bull thistles at the edge of the forest.
