Located in a historic grist mill along the Clinch River, The Appalachian Arts Center was established with the idea of creating a space where the unique mountain culture of the region, as manifested in its arts is celebrated, preserved and promoted. The Center, a part of Southwest Virginia Community College, provides a cultural hub where members of the community can routinely gather for rotating exhibitions, presentations, workshops and performances. The retail gallery provides handcrafted, locally made goods for those seeing a shopping experience with soul and wanting to contribute to the local economy. All products are not only USA made but crafted within 100 miles of the gallery.
The marketplace includes baskets, pottery, quilts, woodworking, jewelry, photography, print making, drawing, painting, fiber art, glass, metal, mixed media honey, jams and more.
Currently closed due to renovations. Scheduled to reopen Fall 2021.
