Come stay at the Rural Retreat Winery suite. It is a 1500 square foot fully furnished suite on the second floor above the Rural Retreat Winery tasting room where you can look out over the historic train depot and enjoy the quaint town of Rural Retreat. The town, once known as the Cabbage Capital of the world had tons of cabbage brought in from neighboring farm lands and loaded on the steam trains. O. Winston Link made the depot famous in his 1957 Christmas eve photos and recording. The combination of the photo and recording is most unusual for that time period was a grand farewell to the passenger train service in the area. The town was also the home of Dr. Charles Pepper and the soft drink as legend has it, is one of his concoctions made in the local pharmacy to make you feel better. The town certainly has some stories to be told, come join us and make a few memories for yourself. Stay with us, enjoy the downtown with a nice glass of Rural Retreat Wine, slow down a bit, and relax!
