Hillsville Diner

The oldest continuously operating streetcar diner in the state of Virginia. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places with the Hillsville Historic District. First built in the 1920s by the Mahoney Streetcar Company, it was moved to Hillsville in 1946 and has been in continuous business ever since. It was moved here from Mount Airy, North Carolina where word has it that Andy Griffith visited as a child. Features short order food, home cooking breakfast and lunch and is known for its stewed beef. Seating capacity for 50-60. Hours: Monday – Friday, 5 a.m. – 2 p.m; and Saturday, 5 a.m. – 11 p.m. Quick service and good food.
